CLASSIC IMAGE: JEDI DESTINY...

Within the deserted and wrecked Jedi Temple, Master Yoda confers with Obi-Wan Kenobi as to the culprits responsible for the slaughter of their friends. A confirmation of a worse battle to come is soon unavoidable and inevitable...

Linked to our favourite green Jedi Master, check out this recently activated new clip from PLAY.COM, from the upcoming Blu-ray release, on how composer John Williams came up with the characters much loved theme tune, here: Star Wars - Landing - Play.com (UK) - Free Delivery

"STAR WARS IN CONCERT" WITH JOHN WILLIAMS!

The menace of Vader looms large at the Hollywood Bowl. Images: Curtis Reynolds.
Good friend to AFICIONADO Curtis Reynolds sent me these great pics from Saturday's STAR WARS IN CONCERT event at the world famous Hollywood Bowl. A great time was had by all but no one expected the much welcome appearance at the end of the concert by the saga's legendary composer John Williams (who was in the audience enjoying the show) who made an apparance on stage, introduced by Anthony Daniels, and conducted the orchestra with an encore performance of THE IMPERIAL MARCH. To say the in-departure audience rushed back to their seats to hear it would be an understatement!

What a magical evening!

UPDATE: 6/6/2010: THEFORCE.NET have footage of Williams at the concert here:TheForce.Net - Latest News - John Williams Conducts SW In Concert

Williams enjoys his special appearance.
And gets a terrific response from the fans.
Lightsabers proudly held high in the audience!
The light show continues...

CLASSIC IMAGE: THE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO

Jedi Knight Aayla Secura looks on in shock as her Clone Troopers turn their weapons against her in the final stages of The Clone Wars on the strange jungle world of Felucia. Though we all knew it was coming by the third film, ORDER 66 was nonetheless a shocking sequence and certainly one of the stand out scenes of REVENGE OF THE SITH, accompanied by a superb and moving theme by John Williams.

With thanks to Chris Baker for the image.

CLASSIC POSTER ART: LUKE AND TAUNTAUN ON HOTH

I'm a big fan of this great artwork for EMPIRE that was used back in the early eighties for a National Philharmonic Orchestra recording of John Williams timeless score (currently available on CD from Varese Sarabande music). As far as I'm aware, it's appeared on several sci-fi related magazine covers over the years but has never been commercially available as a poster or other piece of memorabilia in the UK. If anyone's got any more information on this art-who its by (I don't have this CD or the magazines its graced the covers of), or, even better, if they have a higher res scan that shows the full image so that I could use it on the site, please get in touch - thank you.

A PERFECT FUSION: "STAR WARS" IN CONCERT

Thought I'd post this great shot from one of the STAR WARS: IN CONCERT US performances of the last year. Its really evocative of how the carefully selected visuals and the stirring music of the STAR WARS films can be combined so perfectly so as to give us the ultimate cinematic emotional response. Thank you, John Williams and George Lucas.

If you've never seen STAR WARS: IN CONCERT before its definitely worth catching the next time it comes around to your area-as I'm sure it will again in the next few years.
